Today's card lists 125 football games: 58 in college football, 16 in the NFL and 51 in the FCS. Our posted calls today come from other sports: five lines, two in MLB and three in the NBA. The football listings are large, but the verified information behind them is thin, and some of it conflicts with the schedule as listed. Where the sources disagree, we say so. We have not posted a football call today.
The five posted calls, by selection and line:
- MLB: Under 6.5, Los Angeles Dodgers @ Atlanta Braves - MLB: Under 7.5, Milwaukee Brewers @ San Diego Padres - NBA: Brooklyn Nets +7.5, Brooklyn Nets @ Charlotte Hornets - NBA: New Orleans Pelicans +4.5, New Orleans Pelicans @ Oklahoma City Thunder - NBA: Utah Jazz +1.5, Denver Nuggets @ Utah Jazz
All five settle on our public, tamper-evident ledger. Each result, win or loss, is recorded and cannot be edited after the fact. Some of these calls will lose. Over any short stretch, variance can outweigh edge, and we report the record as it stands.
College Football
This is the largest board on the card, with 58 listed games. The schedule includes Texas @ Oklahoma, Florida State @ Louisville, Iowa @ Washington, Indiana @ Nebraska, Texas A&M @ Missouri, South Carolina @ Florida and Iowa State @ BYU.
The clearest verified note concerns Florida State @ Louisville. Louisville quarterback Lincoln Kienholz has a lower-body injury from last week's loss to Wake Forest. His status is not confirmed. When the starting quarterback is uncertain, a model has to consider two separate versions of the same game. We do not want a number that depends on an unresolved status report.
The second note concerns Jacksonville State @ Kennesaw State. Our research places this Conference USA game on Wednesday, October 7, not today. Jacksonville State's Hoyt has an undisclosed injury, and his availability is unknown. An undisclosed injury to a single player is hard to price. The model cannot estimate how much of his usage would move to backups, so we treat the game as unresolved.
Our research also reports that Kansas running back Y. Willis is expected to miss the remainder of the season. Kansas does not appear on today's listed slate. The note is relevant to later cards, not this one.
In college football, a sharp model weighs efficiency per play rather than final scores. It also weighs quarterback continuity, how well each roster's depth holds up, travel, and home-field effects, which vary widely across conferences. Early-season samples are small. That is one reason we pass on most of this board.
NFL
The 16 listed NFL matchups conflict with our research, and we are stating that plainly. Our reporting says no notable NFL games are scheduled for Tuesday, October 6. It also says Week 4 ended Monday night with Atlanta beating New Orleans 45-24 on the road. Atlanta @ New Orleans still appears on our slate, so we treat the NFL listings as unreconciled. We will not post an NFL number until the schedule is confirmed.
The injury notes still matter for what comes next:
- Baltimore: Lamar Jackson reportedly sprained an ankle in Sunday's 24-18 win over Tennessee. There is an "outside" chance he plays against Atlanta. If he does not, Tyler Huntley would start. Huntley relieved Jackson against the Titans. - Philadelphia: Saquon Barkley is "week-to-week" with a hamstring injury. He is expected to miss the game against Jacksonville in London. That game does not match the Rams @ Eagles listing on our slate. Tank Bigsby is also headed to injured reserve, and Will Shipley is expected to take a larger role. - Tampa Bay and Green Bay: Baker Mayfield is expected to miss at least three games, and rookie Jalon Daniels takes over the offense. Packers linebacker Edgerrin Cooper reportedly has a torn Achilles. Both notes bear on the listed Green Bay @ Tampa Bay matchup. - New York Giants: Jaxson Dart has a knee injury. The Giants have gone back to Jameis Winston and traded for J.J. McCarthy. Our research also reports that Brian Burns is out for the season. This bears on the listed Arizona @ New York Giants matchup.
A model weighs quarterback changes more heavily than almost any other single input. A rookie making his first starts, or a team carrying three quarterbacks, adds real uncertainty. The honest response is a wider error band, not a stronger opinion.
FCS
The FCS board lists 51 games. They include Samford @ Chattanooga, Southern Illinois @ South Dakota, Youngstown State @ Indiana State, Harvard @ Cornell, Dartmouth @ Yale, Howard @ Pennsylvania, and East Tennessee State @ The Citadel.
Our research produced no verified injury or availability notes for these matchups. We will not fill that gap with assumptions. FCS markets often move on information that arrives late. Rosters vary widely within the subdivision, and public data is sparse. A disciplined model applies heavier shrinkage toward prior ratings here and requires a larger edge before acting. Today, nothing on this board clears that standard. We have no FCS call posted.
To summarize: there are five posted calls, all outside football. Every one settles publicly, and losses are recorded alongside wins.
